Bringing traditional knowledge to you

Recently, our team had the privilege of hosting a group of local residents at the Kāinga Ora facilities for a hands-on workshop focused on Rongoaa Māori (Medicinal Gardens) and Maara Kai (Traditional Gardening). It was an enriching experience where we not only shared knowledge about indigenous practices, but also formed meaningful connections with individuals from the Pacific Islands, discovering how our cultural stories align in beautiful and unexpected ways.

During the workshop, we also took the opportunity to showcase Maangere’s unique volcanic soil, which is ideal for growing vegetables. We highlighted how this incredible environment makes Maangere a fantastic place to live and cultivate food. The day was filled with learning, laughter, and a sense of community, and we look forward to more visits in the future.

If you’re unable to come to us, we’re happy to bring the experience to your doorstep with a tailored itinerary designed to suit your group’s needs. Let us share this amazing Matauranga Maaori passed down by our tupuna (ancestors).
